Dr. Gene Shi

Dr. Gene Shi is CEO and co-founder of Learning Genie Inc, creator of Curriculum Genie, the first agentic AI curriculum platform to achieve ESSA Evidence Tier 3 validation in a Johns Hopkins University study. His work centers on agentic AI in education: helping teachers design student-centered units with Portrait of a Graduate competencies embedded as performance tasks and performance-based assessments. He pioneered agency-based learning — students and teachers co-designing curriculum with AI, currently working with Marzano Research, Dr. Robert Marzano and Dr. Sonny Magana on the effectiveness of this new pedagogy. Learning Genie partners with 400+ school districts, including New York’s Portrait of a Graduate work. He holds a PhD in engineering, an MBA, and 10 US patents.
